Problems closing my world remit account

I want to close my account with them, but they make it difficult to do so. They off no means of contact - chat is busy and does not work, phone is busy and does not work. There is no email address, so to close the account will take time and effort, rather than being as easy as opening the account.
They have been fine for remits, but I no longer need to have an account with them and they should make it more simple to be able to close the account.

The most incompetent money transfer in recent times…

The most incompetent money transfer service in recent times. Not only do they disrespect their customers, they take them for granted. They are a total failure at basic business etiquette regarding customers. I made a transfer on 28 May to Ghana (transaction number for authenticity sake: 94258076) and as at today 11 June the transfer has not yet been processed. The purpose for the transfer is now overdue so both me and the recipient have been disappointed. I have asked for the transaction to be cancelled and my money refunded. Anytime I call I get told that it is under review. I then wanted to know why it is under review for so long because I am not a new client, and neither is the recipient. They have all my details which was recently updated so why is it taking so long. They refuse to put you through to the review team for an explanation which is poor and a rude response to a customer’s request for answers. I have resisted writing this review before to give them a second chance, but they have failed me again. I have left and will never return to them or refer WorldRemit to anyone again. There are lots of other service providers out there with better rates (I have researched this). This is the beauty of competition. Goodbye.

Didn't realise how simple it was needed…

Didn't realise how simple it was needed urgently to send money to Morocco could never find the time to go to banks .and found this site on line matter took minutes to sort and money reached intended destination within a matter of minutes amazing very easy even someone who's not computer savvy.

Never had a problem.

This is a genuine review that I felt compelled to write based on all the negative ones. I used World Remit about a dozen times during 1-3 years ago and I would use my debit card to make the payment. Usually it was done to get cash abroad at a better exchange rate with lower fees than the bank. Sometimes my bank would stop the payment and I would have to sort it out with them that I did make the payment and want to do it. Every time I would then have no problem collecting the cash. Today I did the same thing for the first time in more than a year but this time did it by bank transfer as I thought this would stop the bank from having an issue with the payment and locking my card. When I did it though despite having had no problems ever getting the money I started to panic based on all the reviews I was reading. With the debit card the money is received by them instantly and you can collect quickly. As I had done it this time by bank transfer and it takes 'up to 24hrs' I began to worry that it would never say money was received by them and I would be in the position of many others where I would have trouble being refunded. The fact that there is no email address and the phone and chat services were not working made me really worry. It was around an hour after I had sent the money and I called my bank to see if I could stop the payment. Whilst on hold I refreshed the page and the status of my payment had changed and said they had received the funds and I could now collect. I hung up the call to my bank and went and got the cash without any issue at all. So I have still never had any problem with them! I am knocking off a star because if there had have been a problem then not sure how I would have contacted them with all avenues closed off. It was this that caused me to panic and almost cancel the payment.

They are fraudulent. They have done the same to me and have yet to deliver the funds to my account. Ten days ago I sent funds from my UK account to my US account and I have yet to receive funds. They put me through an interminable runaround while they lie about delivering the fund to my bank. My bank has run an internal investigation only to find no trace of WorldRemits claims. I would report them to the authorities in both the US and the UK.

WR facilitates fraud from its staff. They have yet to deliver a transfer on a UK to US corridor and it's been 10days. They have been completely fraudulent about their process and the way they dress client concerns. I would not use them unless you are Ok with inefficient and expensive transfers. Completely unreliable.

That has also happened to me in the UK to US corridor. They have an internal problem which is tantamount to fraud. You need to file a formal complaint with the regulators in your country residence.
